CAKE Byte 26.0: 2001 - a CAKE Odyssey

At year's end we take this opportunity to deliver a brief "State of CAKE Address".

As many of you know - but as some still need to hear - CAKE is NOT porn. CAKE is NOT porn. Porn is produced by men, for men, with the all too easily achieved goal of getting men off. As we have been told by those in the industry, this is a 10 minute project, Max! Inspiring, huh...???

CAKE IS a magnifying glass, looking into the current state of sexuality as it exists today. Over the past months, we have determined that true female sexual culture, for straight women, has no representation in the mainstream media. Mainstream media is America's reality; all powerful and omnipresent, controlling culture, thinking, motivations, and politics.

What does it take to bring a new vision of women to the world? Lots of courage, patience, and a set of heavy, iron ballsŠ.Women's sexuality is a force, not a fad. That IS reality. As such, the mission of CAKE becomes both controversial and an uphill battle. Sure, it might be easier to understand CAKE if it was reduced to an extension of the male pornographic agenda. It is much more challenging to recognize that women are strong, independent, and have a sexual culture of their own. America thrives on denial. CAKE will not fall prey to such close-minded and hypocritical boundaries. CAKE is not here to stroke the delicate male ego ! (sorry boys...)

While it is tempting to list here our encounters with rampant mediocrity and hypocrisy, we will instead focus on what is most important to CAKE's success and ongoing growth in this coming year - YOU. The number one lesson learned for us here at CAKE central has been that in order to do it right, CAKE and the CAKE community needs to get it done on our own. We are very thankful for all your warm responses, encouraging words, enthusiastic participation, and overwhelming beauty. In these first few months, CAKE has built a wonderful foundation, one which will take us to new heights in the year ahead.
