CAKE Byte 49.0: CAKE.Controversy
Wow! Whoa! Oh my gosh! CLUB.CAKE has officially been born! From the NY Post, Howard Stern, CBS News, Fox, WB, to the London Observer and the Village Voice, CAKE is infamous, glamorous, debaucherous and above all controversial - and that is the way we like it. Who knew that female sexuality was so contentious, lascivious and threatening to the status quo??? CAKE knows, but rather than allow the sensational to triumph over reality, we want to set the record straight:

Striptease.a.thon III, the last in a series of three installments, was intended to give women the opportunity to express themselves in a safe, fun environment. Those of you who were on the scene know exactly what happened, for all others, here's the official party line...

Under the banner "CLUB.CAKE", CAKE has produced 11 events over the last year to provide women (and their male partners) with a comfortable, sexy venue where they can express their sexuality. In the interest of preserving the integrity of CAKE events, no performers were paid or solicited to perform at the striptease.a.thon. There were no "plants" in the audience, on stage, or in the now notorious "Freakbox" - just tons of CAKE.Girls expressing their right to rock out. Not coincidentally, women were the ones who pushed the boundaries of what it means to be sexy in a public space.

It's all about the choice. The choice to get down and sexy, the choice to watch, the choice to leave, the choice to go in another room and talk to your partner/friend about what you saw. Only through experience do you figure out what you want, what you like and what you dislike. In strutting their stuff, CAKE.Girls were not expressing their sexuality for money or men's pleasure. When you all got on stage, you were doing it for yourselves, each other, and of course, for the audience watching. You were all in control of your sexuality and that is the way it should be. ALWAYS.

CAKE is not looking for sensationalistic publicity, but we love to push and challenge the boundaries about what is allowed and why. For instance, Why is the female nipple and surrounding aureola "illegal" and the rest of the breast is not - nor the male breast for that matter? Is protruding pubic hair to be considered indecent exposure? Where did these rules come from, who makes them and can they change? CAKE will continue to challenge the norms, ask the questions - and it's up to you to find the answers, for yourselves.

The feedback we have gotten from women about the event was extremely positive. Here are some direct quotes:

"Great people, great time, great concept. The atmosphere was inviting and energetic-such a wonderful combo. Thanks for organizing!!"

"We had a blast!. We met Melinda & Emily (btw, Emily, you have tell me how to get that tee you had on) Thanks, Ladies for a wonderful and sexy party!"

"If my boyfriend had been at Spa the other night I would have been all over the stage. I want to help promote and enjoy female sexuality in any way that I can"

"What a enlightening experience, crazy!! In my opinion the party was a complete success. Everything that transpired that night felt very natural and very exciting. In no way did anything seem, or feel forced, or contrived. I felt comfortable and invigorated by the environment that surrounded me."

Getting people talking is what it is ultimately all about - then that can be a catalyst for change and understanding. CAKE is about expression, exhibition and entertainment - three words that are not normally associated with what women want sexually. Thanks to all of you who have sent us letters in support of the CAKE cause. No worries. We are just beginning. Guiliani, Bush, or Ashcroft cannot stop CAKE - we are ALL CAKE - and we are here to stay.
