CAKE Byte - "Ask me to rate your style"

CAKE's one year anniversary was a celebration of style. We humbly and enthusiastically applaud all of the CAKE.Girls who came out for La Dolce Vita - ready and willing to express their style in uninhibitedly sexy, lingerie inspired attire. We never had a doubt. You all completely rock - your style, expression and dedication makes us swoon...Check out the FEATURE section for full coverage of your sexy style at La Dolce Vita. Now, we are going to get critical, and we are going to have to start with... the boys.

While we applaud the guys who came prepared - rocking the sexy "bed head", white tanks, leather pants, rock star attitudes and bare midriffs, the other half could not seem to get it together. CAKE gave you the opportunity to break out of the societal boundaries of what guys are "supposed" to wear. We asked you to wear what YOU wanted to wear...to turn CAKE.Girls on.

Some of you acted like a deer caught in headlights. "Hey, we thought we were perfect just the way we were." We heard the same questions over and over again -- What exactly is "lounge" wear? You may think you would look silly with a shower cap on your head and a shower curtain wrapped around your chest (one man's interpretation) but us CAKE.Girls think the effort, the intention, that you put into it is what makes you hot.

Gentlemen, we realize there are few role models for men to work from and we are going to let you use this as an excuse - this time. It seems that male sex icon of choice is the quintessential "Playboy" himself, Hugh Hefner. However, while he is a youthful 75 years old, Hef is clearly not the sex symbol modern day CAKE.Girls are looking for. Next time, there will be no excuses and you better be ready to put your it on the table (...uh, so to speak!).

So what in the future what DO CAKE.Girls want to see? Here are a few tips from CAKE.Girls:

"In the few days before the La Dolce Vita event I was very amused by the frenzied questions and ruminations of my and my women friends' male friends about what to wear to the party. Major meltdown time for the guys. I don't think I've ever seen so much concern expressed by men about how to dress, what would be suitable, what defines loungewear, what would be lounge-y but still cool. While all this fretting was deliciously ironic, in many ways they may have missed an opportunity to realize some simple truths. In the end, it's not what you wear it's truly about how you wear it. "Lounging" like "looking sexy" is a state of mind. It's about being comfortable in your skin and that is what makes you look good in your second skins. You can be the oh so cool lounge lizard and look incredibly hot in ratty sweatpants or black silk, leather or boxers." - CAKE.Girl

"I like it when men dress in a fashion that shows they are excited about exploring their sexuality, and express their style with confidence. Let's say a nice pair of tight leather pants...Mmmm. Or...a low cut pair of jeans no shirt...which shows off the lower tummy, yummy!" -CAKE.Girl

"I think the "eye candy" that would turn women on would be to see a man totally and utterly lost to his sexual urges. His face full of that almost painful expression of pleasure that is ALWAYS plastered on women's faces in porn. Have them looking at US with the half-lidded expression of need." - CAKE.Girl

"There are many super sexual guys out there. I would like to see guys, actors, rockstars, "real" ones whose sexiness has been judged by a woman and one who knows not only female sexuality but who has an aesthetic for the sexy (is there just one aesthetic?) I'm thinking here of The Pillow Book and 70's Playboys. People and scenarios that are more sensual, more "real". In older Playboys you can actually see the texture of the model's skin. It's very erotic." - CAKE.Girl

Women have the right to look to men's style and male sexuality for our enjoyment - you will just have to do. When we were conceptualizing La Dolce Vita, we almost put you ALL in lingerie. And you know you would have worn it to get close to all those yummy CAKE girls! Now that would have been a real sight to see. We know that you really, really want to break out of your molds...and in the future you are NOT going to have a choice! Yippee. Come prepared.

The creation of CLUB.CAKE is in constant evolution, one that is influenced by the reactions of thousands of CAKE members - and we are listening. There is no guide, no right, no wrong - and in the end it is all about "making it happen".

We thank you for your insight, encouragement, critiques and enthusiasm.

Now go check out your beautiful style. The Feature section is flush with a photo gallery and video that highlights those of you who exhibited your sexuality and style to make La Dolce Vita a smashing success.
