CAKE Byte - Boyz Gone Wild

Yes, yes, we know but we could not resist. When we announced GIRLS' NIGHT OUT we could not be sure what the response from potential boy entertainers would be. Apprehension, or flat out adulation? We are proud to say that your applications and nominations have been streaming in. Modest men with brief applications and a true love for CAKE, cocky showbiz types revealing more than necessary and subtle studs, wooing us with a few lines of poetry. One thing is for sure - the stereotypical gender roles are reversed and the girls are doing the selecting. We've been checking you out on the street, in the bars, on the subways, and at the clubs. Have you been spotted? We've been gossiping about you with our girlfriends, mulling you over with our boyfriends, and letting you know - straight up - whether we think you are worthy.

"I love how the gender roles have completely switched in the recruiting process. When I asked my male friends to be dancers for Girl's Night Out, they got a little squirmy. Take off my clothes? In front of a room filled with women? Now, my friends are by no means shy, but the very thought of being stared at half naked and objectified threw them for a loop. (Try walking in our heels for a day!) Even random guys shaking their stuff on the dance floor had a hard time dealing with me staring at them and sizing them up to see if they may be worthy eye candy for the event. Women aren't usually thought of as the voyeurs or the aggressors, but when given the opportunity to slip into one of those roles, few pass up the opportunity. Girls' Night Out is bound to be one hell of an event judging by the enthusiasm of the women that will be coming. Hold onto your knickers, boys!"
(Jessica - CAKE intern)

The process of recruiting for GIRLS' NIGHT OUT has given us a rare insight in flipping the switch on traditional gender roles - a social experiment of epic proportions. Are you the new boy next door? This process proves that given the opportunity boys amply relish the prospect of strutting their stuff for us girls. What does this all mean? For some, all sexual objectification is bad - so these guys must be "victims" of our female aggression! They only wish...The rest of us know a little objectification can do a boy good - in the name of sexual equality.

Every girl has active sexual thoughts that turn her on. When she is in tune with what turns her on arousal is equated with desire and desire with arousal. The problem is that most women are taught not to be in tune with what turns them on and moreover we are seriously discouraged to go seek it out. Choice stimulates innovation. So where does a woman go to explore these thoughts - to decide what she may or may not like, to inspire and put visions in her head to use as stimulation? To CAKE of course!

Think you have what it takes (or you know someone who does) to entertain a room filled with CAKE Girls? If you weren't at the right place, at the right time (with the right moves) then head on down to tonight's Boyz Gone Wild audition from 6-8pm in NYC. While we want to see your moves, we also just want to meet you in person and be sure you get that this time the girls are in charge. Hipsters, rockers, bankers, doctors, nurses, artists, dancers, poets, homemakers, dads, firemen, fighters and lovers - this is your last chance! To apply to be the entertainment, or to nominate a friend, email erica@cakenyc.com with a photo of yourself or your nominee, and let us know why you or your nominee should be chosen to dance for CAKE.

And CAKE Girls - grab all of your girlfriends and come on down to GIRLS' NIGHT OUT on March 31st. Come check out the eyecandy and much, much more.
