CAKE Byte - Summer of Love
We are here to make a better world. The lesson of the 60's is that people who cared enough to do right could change history. We didn't end racism but we ended legal segregation. We ended the idea that you could send half-a-million soldiers around the world to fight a war that people do not support. We ended the idea that women are second-class citizens. We made the environment an issue that couldn't be avoided. The big battles that we won cannot be reversed. We were young, self-righteous, reckless, brave, silly, headstrong and scared half to death. And we were right. - Abbie Hoffman

Sounds like progress no? Unfortunately, thirty plus years later judging from current events Abbie may have spoken a wee bit too soon. But, we are not going to stand for the current status quo of fear and hate here in NYC! Let's make CAKE not war and stage our own Summer of Love in 2004 in protest and make Abbie proud.

Four years ago we had a dream. Four years on and going strong, we are succeeding more than ever with promoting a lasting vision of female sexual culture. We have celebrated culturally relevant issues facing female sexuality, offered a new vision of what it means to be a sexual woman, demanded equality, fostered an amazing dialogue between women and between women and men. Most importantly, we have actively facilitated women's sexual evolutions - making fantasy reality for women all over the world.

We hoped, but we had no idea of the extent to which women and men all would respond with such enthusiasm, strength and unity to support and embrace the cause. YOU have made this all happen. YOU have inspired us to get the message out there in a way that has not been done before. Your pride and your testimonials to the cause is wholly revolutionary.

CAKE asks you to take this opportunity to promote your freedom of choice and expression by coming together to celebrate female sexual culture. Let's promote a state of togetherness. The CAKE community has the power to send a different message - one of love, community and peace.

Come celebrate at CLUB CAKE where we address culturally relevant issues facing female sexuality today by flipping the power dynamic to the women in the room - creating a safe, comfortable environment for true sexual expression. These issues sculpt and inform the themes and purpose of CLUB CAKE events while addressing power issues, myths about female sexuality, body image, community, forum - precisely because we are hard pressed to find a space elsewhere to do so.

With all this in mind, come show your love, your faith in each other, and your and faith in humanity this Summer of Love. We invite you to celebrate FOUR years of luscious, juicy, sweet CAKE!

Love,
CAKE
