Girls on Top: |

| Some
people in Britain may find it hard to take a subversive counterculture called
CAKE seriously. For them, the name will always be inseparable from Chris
Morris' most famous Brass Eye stunt: where he invented a drug called Cake
and enlisted politicians to hold forth on its detrimental effects. In the
States, however, CAKE is a sexual liberation movement for young, straight
and mostly attractive women, and the waves it is causing are every bit as
tumultuous as Morris forewarned.
"There isn't enough porn made for chicks," says Melinda Gallagher, the sassy 27-year-old founder of CAKE. "And if we don't see some of it soon, we're going to have to make it for ourselves." That's right, folks: the CAKE project is less about bra burning and more about entertaining the 21 per cent of people who watch porn films who are not male. No CAKE videos have been produced, but the 10,000 members have taken part in interactive sex discussions and orgiastic club nights in downtown Manhattan.

Unsurprisingly, considering that most CAKE members are available, the parties have become the hottest tickets in New York. "At our parties," assures Gallagher, "no man is allowed in without a woman." Gallagher may look like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth - she is a polite, NYU graduate - but she has seen more X-rated films than even the clammiest-palmed porno fiend and she knows what women like. "We want to be mindfucked," she says. "A 'hot-squirter' movie we often watch at sessions is How to Female Ejaculate. Watching woman after woman grunt and moan as they squirt clear cum two feet tin the air and three feet across the room is not only hilarious, it's inspirational." Morris was right: CAKE is dangerous.
